KULGAM, MAY 30 – In a significant move to empower women and promote entrepreneurship, the District Administration Kulgam today organized a day-long Capacity Building Workshop on Women Entrepreneurship. The event was inaugurated and presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS).
The workshop featured a series of technical sessions designed to equip women with practical knowledge and tools to launch and sustain successful enterprises. Key focus areas included enterprise development, the startup ecosystem, sectoral potential in the district, and awareness about government schemes offering financial and institutional support.
Experts and officials led discussions on access to finance, market linkages, and explored opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, and service sectors. The event also spotlighted success stories of local women entrepreneurs, inspiring participants through real-life examples of determination and innovation.
Addressing the gathering, DC Athar Aamir Khan emphasized the vast business potential driven by India’s emergence as the world’s 4th largest economy. He highlighted the transformative impact of the country's 80 crore+ internet users, which opens new digital and market opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
Prominent officials including ADC Kulgam Viqar Ahmed Giri, JDP Zahid Sajjad, DSWO Muzaffar Ahmad, and others were also present, underscoring the administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in the district.
The workshop marks a significant step toward building capacity, confidence, and community among women entrepreneurs in Kulgam, and reflects the administration’s vision for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
