Jammu and Kashmir has once again become tense after Pakistan failed to launch drone and missile attacks. On Thursday, around 11 pm, Pakistan fired drones and short-range missiles targeting multiple places including Jammu, Samba and R.S. Pura, but the Indian defense forces destroyed them in mid-air.

At the same time, the BSF also foiled a militant infiltration attempt along the International Border in Samba district. The spokesperson said that the plan of a major infiltration was foiled and the militants were forced to return.

On the other hand, a woman named Nargis Begum lost her life and Hafiza Begum was injured in a mortar shell attack by Pakistan in Uri sector of Baramulla. Pakistan Army continued shelling along the Uri, Tangdhar, Poonch, Rajouri and Samba borders today, causing great panic in the border areas.

Missile and drone attacks targeting the airport and defence installations in Jammu city also failed to be intercepted by the Indian air defence system. As a precautionary measure, an immediate blackout was imposed in Srinagar and Jammu, after which power services were gradually restored.

In this situation, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah left Srinagar for Jammu on Friday morning. He wrote in X, “After last night’s drone attack, I am going to Jammu to review the situation.”

In view of the ongoing tension and security risks in the Valley, Education Minister Sakina Ito has announced that all schools, colleges and universities in the state will be closed on Friday and Saturday. Kashmir University has also informed that classes will be suspended on Friday.

Anxiety is increasing among the common people due to the continuous terrorist activities and attacks on the border. Although the administration’s activities and the alert position of the army have been successful in dealing with the danger for the time being, concerns about the situation are not abating.
