Encounter Breaks Out in Kulgam Forests

Kulgam, August 1: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Akhal forest area of Devsar in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, officials said.

A senior police official confirmed that a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists.

"During the search operation, contact was established with the hiding terrorists, leading to an exchange of fire," the official said, adding that the operation is currently underway.
