The ongoing firing in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir has finally stopped after the Pakistani army violated the ceasefire. However, residents of the border areas are still not getting any relief. They have not been allowed to return home as the security situation is not completely normal.
At least seven people have lost their lives in the firing in the last few days – including four innocent villagers and three Indian security personnel. According to local sources, people rushed to bunkers and shelters during the firing. Many houses and properties have also been damaged.
The Indian army has responded by increasing its activities and surveillance along the border. According to military sources, although the situation is now under control, precautions are being taken along the Pakistan border.
This incident is being seen as the biggest ceasefire violation since the 2021 ceasefire agreement. Many local residents have expressed fear that if such attacks continue, normal life along the border will completely collapse.
