Kulgam, June 2: In view of the upcoming Mela Kheer Bhawani, the Food Safety team of Kulgam district on Sunday conducted detailed inspections at temples located in the Devsar and Manzgam areas of South Kashmir. The focus of the drive was to assess the hygiene and quality of langar (community kitchen) facilities and other food items being prepared and served to the devotees.
An official from the Food Safety department said the initiative was undertaken to ensure strict compliance with food safety norms, given the expected influx of devotees for the religious event scheduled on June 3.
“We have ensured that food safety standards are being strictly followed to safeguard public health during the religious gathering,” the official said.
He further added that the department is committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food quality, especially during large public events. These proactive inspections are intended to prevent any food-related health issues and to ensure a safe environment for devotees participating in the mela.
