Handwara Police Seizes 08 Tippers, 01 Tractor and 01 JCB Involved in Illegal Mining and Transportation of Minerals

Handwara, June 14, 2025:

In a major crackdown on illegal mining activities, Handwara Police today seized 08 tippers, 01 tractor, and 01 JCB from different locations across Police District Handwara for their involvement in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals.

Acting on inputs, police teams from various police stations carried out coordinated enforcement drives. During these operations, the vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid documentation, in violation of the Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016. Handwara Police has initiated action against all these voilators as per the provisions of law stipulated in this regard.

This drive underscores the unwavering commitment of Handwara Police to protect the region’s natural resources, ensure environmental safety, and uphold the rule of law. Authorities have reaffirmed that strict legal action will continue against all violators in the coming days.
