Heatwave Red Alert in Jammu and Kashmir, calls for precautions

Heatwaves are becoming a global threat. Jammu and Kashmir too in recent years has witnessed grim heatwaves.


It has been stated that severe heatwave is expected in Jammu and Kashmir over the next 6 days. Temperatures are forecasted to soar to 34°C in Kashmir Plains, with Srinagar, Kupwara, Budgam, and Pulwama potentially touching 33-34 degrees Celsius. Jammu plains may experience even higher temperatures, crossing 42-44 degrees Celsius.


Expert pulse is stressing that we need to take the required precautions to safeguard overselves from Heatwave.


To stay safe during this heatwave, it's essential to take necessary precautions. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid outdoor activities, especially between 11am and 3pm when the sun's rays are strongest. Wear protective gear like umbrellas, hats, and light, loose-fitting clothing to shield yourself from direct sunlight. Whenever possible, stay in shaded areas or air-conditioned spaces to keep cool. Additionally, monitor vulnerable groups like the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions, and advise them to take extra precautions. By taking these steps, you can reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses and stay safe during this heatwave.
