Indian Air Force GARUD Commandos were seen today morning in some places of Srinagar. They were noticed on the airport road and a few downtown locations. Their surprise sighting was noticed by locals.
Even though nothing has been officially released by the Air Force, sources reveal that the commandos might have arrived in Srinagar for a particular mission or training session. Others believe they have arrived to help local forces maintain peace and security.
The GARUD Commandos are among the best Indian Air Force group. They undergo training for hazardous operations such as counter-terrorism, rescue, and protecting air bases. They generally signal that some important or serious activity is on.
There was extra security in some areas. Police and other forces were also assisting the GARUD team. There was no violence or problem reported. The people were requested to stay calm and continue working.
Our Jazzbaat24 member Kazmi was able to take some pictures of the GARUD Commandos while they were in transit. The rare snaps provide a close-up look at the elite unit while in transit and have been posted on our official websites.
Several locals also posted pictures and videos on social networking sites. The authorities have urged people to desist from disseminating false information or rumors.
At the moment, the situation in Srinagar is peaceful. We will share more updates if the Indian Air Force releases an official statement.
