Inquiry Committee Constituted to Probe Death of Pregnant Woman at District Hospital Kulgam

Kulgam, June 18: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has ordered a high-level inquiry into the death of a 28-year-old pregnant woman, Nayeema, wife of Shoukat Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Srandoo Kulgam, who died at District Hospital Kulgam on Monday, June 17, 2025.


According to the official order issued today, a four-member Inquiry Committee has been constituted to conduct an in-depth investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragic incident. The committee has been directed to submit its report by or before June 19, 2025 (evening).


The Inquiry Committee will be chaired by Dr. Khalid Parvaiz, I/C CMO Anantnag, and includes Dr. Shahid Tak, Consultant Cardiologist at JLNM Hospital Srinagar; Dr. Manzoor A. Rather, Consultant Anesthetist at DH Ganderbal; and Dr. Muzaffar Ali Khan, Consultant Surgeon at District Hospital Budgam.


The order has been forwarded to key officials including the Secretary to Government, Health & Medical Education Department, and various medical superintendents for information and necessary cooperation.


The formation of the committee comes amid serious allegations of medical negligence raised by the deceased woman’s family.
