The Pakistan Army has been accused of violating the ceasefire again in Nowshera, Sundarbans and Akhnoor sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. The residents of the border villages are on high alert after witnessing such a situation after 7-8 years.
Residents of Pargwal sector of Akhnoor said that they heard multiple rounds of firing late on Monday night. Local resident Ankur Singh said, "Last night around 10-12 rounds of firing were going on. The Indian army also retaliated. We are familiar with this situation, but now we are fully alert."
Another resident of the same area, Raju Singh, said, "3-4 rounds of firing were fired between 8:30 and 9 pm. We were working in the fields at that time. Suddenly, we were told over the phone to leave all work and return home immediately. Nothing happened after that. However, 50 percent of the crop has not been harvested yet."
The Indian Army said that from the night of April 29 to the morning of April 30, Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked small arms firing. The attack took place in Nowshera, Sundarbans and Akhnoor sectors. In each case, the Indian Army gave a prompt and befitting reply.
Later, the ceasefire violation by Pakistan was further expanded. This time, the target was areas adjacent to the Line of Control in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir and the Pargwal sector located on the International Border (IB). The Indian Army said that they gave a befitting and strong reply in all cases.
According to experts, there are clear signs that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is heating up again. Since the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan in 2021, there has been almost no firing on the border. As a result, this time's violation signals a new kind of tension.
In addition to panic and anxiety among local residents, concerns about surplus crops and cultivation are also growing. After a long period of conflict, agricultural work has come to a standstill, which also indicates direct economic losses.
In this situation, the Indian Army is on high alert on the border and is ready to give a strong response to any encroachment, according to army sources.
