Jammu Police Foil Bovine Smuggling Attempt; Recover Stolen Vehicle in Jourian, Akhnoor

In a significant success under Operation *Kamdhenu,* Jammu Police foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and recovered a stolen vehicle in the Jourian area during the early hours of June 1st, 2025. A special naka was laid at Chak Kirpalpur (Naiwala),by *IC PP Jourian SI Sanjeet Singh,where a Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration number JK02AA-0010,* coming from Khour/Jourian towards Akhnoor/Jammu, was signaled to stop for routine checking.


Instead of complying, the driver sped past the naka, attempting to flee. Acting swiftly, the naka team pursued the vehicle and found it abandoned approximately 200 meters ahead. Taking advantage of the darkness, the driver and accompanying individuals escaped from the spot.


Upon checking,four bovine animals,three cows and one calf were found tied inside the vehicle in a cruel and inhumane manner, without access to food or water. The transportation was clearly being done without valid permission, indicating an attempt at illegal bovine smuggling.


A case has been registered U/Ss 223 (BNS) and 11 of the Prevention of cruelty to animals act.The vehickes has been seized and the efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the culprits.


Further investigation revealed that the *vehicle used in the crime had been reported stolen from the jurisdiction of Police Station Gangyal.* With this, police not only foiled a smuggling bid but also achieved a successful recovery of a stolen vehicle.
