Bandipora, July 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW) on Friday organised a day-long ‘Inter-generational’ dialogue at Kaloosa auditorium with an aim to initiate a dialogue between different age groups to bridge generational gaps.

An official of the organisation told Kashmir convener that the programme was organised in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation under the “Koor Cha Noor” project.

He said the event brought together adolescent girls, parents, teachers, senior citizens, social activists, and community leaders to foster open conversations across generations and address the evolving roles of young girls and the elderly in society.

JKASW representatives said the aim of the programme was to encourage understanding between generations, revive traditional values, and adapt to emerging societal challenges. “Such dialogues are essential for preserving our cultural identity while preparing youth for modern-day realities,” said a JKASW spokesperson.

The programme featured group discussions, cultural performances, and panel talks. Parents shared personal life experiences, while young girls spoke about their aspirations and challenges in a rapidly changing world.

Speakers stressed the importance of meaningful communication within families to strengthen social cohesion and address community issues collectively.

The initiative is part of JKASW’s ongoing efforts to empower adolescent girls and promote inclusive social development across Jammu and Kashmir.
