Pulwama, Aug 13: A 25-year-old sand miner from Kulgam drowned on Wednesday after his boat capsized in the Pompore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Khursheed Ahmad Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Check Ranbirpora Damhal, Kulgam. He had been working as a sand miner in the area, they added.
Following the mishap, rescue teams launched a search operation to retrieve the body. Efforts were still underway when reports last came in.
Pulwama Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings.
