Kulgam Police Arrests 3 Drug Peddlers Including a Woman in Pombay, Kulgam Substantial Quantity of Contraband Substance Recovered.

Kulgam, July 06: In its continued efforts to combat the drug menace, Kulgam Police have arrested three drug peddlers, including a woman, and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from their possession in the Pombay area of the district.


Acting on specific information, a police team led by SI Ishfaq Ahmad, In-charge Police Post Nehama, under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora, established a checkpoint near Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Pombay. During checking, a load carrier auto bearing registration number JK18D-9075 with three persons on board was intercepted.


During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 8.15 kilograms of poppy straw-like contraband substance. The three individuals were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Gani Bhat, resident of Watigam Kulgam (driver), Raju Singh, son of Gurbaksh Singh, resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, and Kamaljeet Kaur, daughter of Santokh Singh, resident of Moga, Punjab.


All the accused have been taken into custody and shifted to the concerned police station. A case under FIR No. 49/2025 has been registered at Police Station DH Pora under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated.


Kulgam Police have urged the general public to cooperate in the fight against drug trafficking by sharing any related information. The public is encouraged to contact the nearest police unit or dial 112 in case of emergencies. Police reiterated their commitment to act firmly against those involved in drug-related activities and to make the district drug-free.
