Qazigund, June 19:In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking, Kulgam Police on Wednesday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered a significant quantity of contraband from their possession in Qazigund.
Acting on routine naka checking at Shampora crossing, police intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number PB29AG-9228. During the search, 7 kilograms of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from two individuals riding the vehicle. The accused have been identified as Kulwinder Singh, son of Tarseem Singh, and Ramandeep Singh, son of Kulwant Singh — both residents of Moga, Punjab.
The duo was arrested on the spot, and the motorcycle used in the crime was seized. A case under FIR No. 127/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qazigund under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway.
Kulgam Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and urged the public to support the police by reporting any information related to drug trafficking.
