Kulgam, July 16: In a major crackdown on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, the Kulgam Police have seized eight vehicles and arrested as many individuals involved in unlawful mining operations.
Continuing its drive against illegal mining, a police team led by SHO Police Station Qaimoh seized six dumpers and two tippers being used for the transportation of illegally extracted minerals. The seized vehicles bear registration numbers JK14B-5645, JK03B-2234, JK03G-3214, JK05F-7211, JK03L-4788, JK19A-2088, JK13J-7160, and JK13D-8811.
Eight drivers operating these vehicles were arrested on the spot.
Police have registered cases under FIR numbers 52, 53, and 54 of 2025 at Police Station Qaimoh under relevant sections of law. Further investigation in all cases is underway.
Kulgam Police reiterated their commitment to act tough against violators involved in illegal mining activities. They have urged the public to report any such activities in their vicinity and assist in curbing this environmental and legal violation.
