Kulgam, June 4: In a continued crackdown on illegal mining activities, Kulgam Police have seized six tractors and arrested six individuals involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals across different parts of the district.
Acting on specific inputs, a police team led by In-Charge Police Post (IC PP) Frisal intercepted and seized four tractors during a Naka checking operation at Batpora. The drivers of the vehicles were taken into custody for their role in illegal mineral transportation.
In a separate operation, the police party from Police Station DH Pora established a checkpoint at HM Gori crossing and seized two more tractors, arresting their respective drivers on similar charges.
Accordingly, cases have been registered under FIR No. 36/2025 at Police Station Yaripora and FIR No. 37/2025 at Police Station DH Pora under relevant provisions of law. Further investigations in both cases are underway.
Kulgam Police have reiterated their commitment to curbing environmental crimes and urged the public to report any such illegal activities in their areas to help take timely and effective action.
