Kupwara Police Apprehends Two Drug Peddlers; 530 Grams of Charas Recovered

Kupwara, July 9 2025:


Continuing its efforts against the menace of drug trafficking, Kupwara Police has apprehended two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of contraband during a naka/checking operation in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kupwara.


on the evening of July 8 at a naka point at Gutlipora a police party intercepted two persons riding a scooty (Reg. No. PB10EH 8034) while they were on their way from Qasba Hyhama towards Kupwara.


The individuals have been identified as:

1. Mohd Akbar Ganie, S/O Abdul Aziz Ganie, R/O Qasba Hyhama

2. Ali Mohammad Sheikh, S/O Abdul Jabar Sheikh, R/O Gulgam


Upon personal search, a polythene-wrapped package containing Charas-like substance weighing approximately 530 grams was recovered from their collective possession. The contraband was promptly seized on the spot.


In this regard, a case FIR No. 211/2025 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara, and further investigation has been taken up to unearth the backward and forward linkages of the drug network.


This successful operation reflects the firm resolve of Kupwara Police in its mission to uproot the drug menace from the society. The police remains committed to safeguarding the youth from the harmful grip of narcotics and will continue its drive with enhanced intensity.
