Kupwara, May 19, 2025 — As part of its ongoing community outreach and legal literacy initiatives, Kupwara Police organized an awareness programme today at My New School, Dragmulla, focusing on the recently introduced criminal laws under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).
The session was chaired by Shri Javed Ahmad (JKPS) and attended by a panel of legal experts who explained the key changes and reforms introduced by the new laws. The programme specifically emphasized:
• Victim-centric measures ensuring faster and more sensitive handling of criminal cases
• Cybercrime awareness, highlighting preventive measures and legal remedies for students in the digital age
• Drug abuse prevention, focusing on the legal, social, and health impacts of substance abuse
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students and teaching staff, who engaged actively in the discussions and Q&A sessions. The programme was also attended by DSP Probationer Mr. Raghav
