POONCH, 21 MAY 2025 — Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, today visited Poonch to meet the grieving families who lost their loved ones in the recent unprovoked shelling by Pakistan. In a major relief measure, the Lieutenant Governor announced a government job for the closest kin of each victim, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the welfare and rehabilitation of those affected.

"The proper rehabilitation of the affected families is my top priority," said LG Sinha. He emphasized that the J&K administration, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, is fully committed to bolstering border infrastructure and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in the region.

The LG also announced a significant expansion in the construction of individual and community bunkers under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme to protect civilians in border areas.

During his visit, LG Sinha paid obeisance at the Gurudwara Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib, which was among the religious sites targeted in the shelling. “Pakistan has once again displayed its cowardice by attacking sacred sites, including a Gurudwara, a temple, and a mosque. This despicable act is an attempt by the terror state to damage our social fabric,” he stated.

He praised the people of Poonch and the Sikh community for their resilience and unity in the face of adversity. “Your courage strengthens our brave soldiers and exemplifies our society's unity against those who attempt to divide us,” LG Sinha added.

Highlighting India's growing global stature, he noted that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, “every section of society is being empowered, and India's unbeatable prowess is being recognized worldwide.”

Later in the day, LG Sinha visited the shelling-affected Dungus area and chaired a high-level meeting with senior administrative and district officials. He directed for the immediate restoration of essential services and called for a detailed Action Taken Report (ATR) to be submitted to the Divisional Commissioner and Chief Secretary. He also emphasized the need for strengthening medical services at the district hospital, improving the civil defence system, and conducting a comprehensive assessment for bunker construction.

Appreciating the swift response of the local administration and security forces, LG Sinha assured continued support for the rehabilitation and safety of all affected families.

He was accompanied by Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, IG Jammu Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, Divisional Commissioner Shri Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Shri Vikas Kundal, and other senior officials.
