Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has denounced Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's statement. He added that Pakistan at first refused the attack in Pahalgam and then attempted to blame India for it. Omar Abdullah stated, "First they did not acknowledge that something took place in Pahalgam. Then they stated that India was responsible for this act."
He also added, "It is hard to attribute significance to the statement of those who first made the allegations against us. I don't wish to assign particular significance to these remarks. What occurred is very unfortunate, and it shouldn't have occurred in any manner."
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has indicated that Pakistan is willing for an "impartial, transparent and credible investigation" into the Pahalgam attack. 26 individuals were killed in the attack.
In response to India's stern reaction — which included suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari Integrated Checkpost — Shahbaz Sharif, addressing a military academy, said, "Pakistan is willing to be part of any impartial investigation."
But he also restated Pakistan's military readiness. "Our army is completely ready and can defend the country's sovereignty, just as it defended it in February 2019 when India attacked," he added.
