Kulgam, July 23: A one-day conference of the Gujjar-Bakarwal community was held on Wednesday at Rest House Chawalgam in Kulgam, aimed at discussing and highlighting the various issues faced by the tribal population in the district.
The event was organized by Chaudhary Nazir Ahmad and saw the presence of Former Minister Aijaz Ahmad Khan as the chief guest.
Delegates from different areas of Kulgam district participated in the conference and collectively raised long-standing demands concerning the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, urging the government to take immediate steps for redressal.
Addressing the gathering, Former Minister Aijaz Ahmad Khan emphasized the need for the government to resolve the community’s pressing issues, including those related to political reservation. He further announced the formation of village- and district-level committees to ensure that the voices of the community reach the higher authorities.
The conference concluded with a collective call for unity and continued efforts to safeguard the rights and welfare of the tribal population in the region.
