Jammu & Kashmir, June 6, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Jammu and Kashmir today to inaugurate a series of transformative infrastructure projects aimed at boosting connectivity and accelerating development in the region.

Inauguration of Major Infrastructure Projects:

PM Modi will unveil development projects worth over ₹46,000 crore in Katra, including the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which now offers direct train connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.

Launch of Vande Bharat Express Trains:

The Prime Minister will flag off two Vande Bharat Express trains between Katra and Srinagar, marking the beginning of semi-high-speed rail services in Jammu and Kashmir.

Inauguration of Iconic Bridges:

PM Modi will also inaugurate the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, and the Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge — both seen as major engineering milestones.

Public Address in Katra:

A public rally will be held in Katra, where PM Modi is expected to address the gathering and reaffirm the Centre’s commitment to the region’s long-term growth and stability.

Enhanced Security Measures

In light of the Prime Minister’s visit, security has been significantly tightened across Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities have deployed a multi-layered security apparatus with anti-sabotage checks and drone surveillance to ensure a smooth and safe event.

This visit marks PM Modi’s first trip to the region after the Pahalgam terror attack and the launch of Operation Sindoor, reflecting the government’s continued emphasis on peace, progress, and infrastructure development in the Union Territory.
