Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Pulwama and Kupwara

Pulwama/Kupwara, May 27: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate operations in Pulwama and Kupwara districts, seizing contraband substances from their possession.


In Pulwama, a police team from Police Station Rajpora apprehended a suspect during a naka (checkpoint) operation near Argecheck. A search led to the recovery of 60 grams of charas from the suspect, identified as Javaid Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Akbar Mir, a resident of Pakherpora. He was taken into custody and remains lodged at the police station.


Meanwhile, in Kupwara, a checkpoint established by Police Station Kupwara at Main Tikker led to the interception of another suspect. Upon search, a quantity of heroin-like substance was recovered from him. He has been identified as Danish Ahmad Shiekh, son of Mohammad Yousuf Shiekh, a resident of Tikker Kupwara. He too was arrested and is currently in police custody.


Police have registered cases under relevant sections of the law at the respective police stations, and further investigations are underway.


The police reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any drug-related activities in their areas.
