Nagrota, July 21: A probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) was injured on Monday after a landslide struck his vehicle near Tunnel T-1 at Ban Nagrota on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH44), briefly disrupting vehicular movement on the crucial highway.

Officials said the incident occurred when a sudden landslide brought down boulders and debris from the hillside, hitting a car bearing registration number JK05L-7791. The vehicle was being driven by Probationary DySP Athar Ahmad Bakshi, who was on his way along the highway.

The officer’s vehicle was trapped under the debris, and he sustained injuries in the incident. He was immediately shifted to PHC Jagti Nagrota, where he was administered first aid and later discharged.

Following the landslide, the up-tube of NH44 was blocked, leading to traffic being diverted through the down-tube to ensure uninterrupted flow. Restoration work was promptly initiated, with teams deployed on-site to clear the debris and reopen the road.

Authorities have advised commuters to remain cautious and follow traffic advisories, especially while navigating landslide-prone stretches of the highway.
