KULGAM, JULY 27:In a decisive action against drug trafficking, the Kulgam Police, under the leadership of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal (IPS), have attached the property of a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The property belongs to Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, a resident of Zadoora, Mirbazar. He is involved in two separate NDPS cases—FIR No. 85/2020 registered at Police Station Mattan under Sections 8, 15, and 29 of the NDPS Act, and FIR No. 104/2025 registered at Police Station Qazigund under Sections 8 and 15 of the same Act.

Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, the competent authority initiated proceedings for the attachment of illegally acquired property believed to have been purchased through proceeds of narcotic trafficking. Consequently, a single-storey residential house measuring 850 sq. ft., along with 12 marlas of land situated at Zadoora, Mirbazar and falling under Khewat No. 3, valued at approximately ₹65 lakhs, has been officially attached.

This significant move reflects the firm resolve of the Kulgam Police to eradicate the drug menace by targeting not just the traffickers but also their ill-gotten assets. Officials emphasized that such strict enforcement actions will continue as part of sustained efforts to build a drug-free and secure society.
