Qazigund, June 19: In a significant weather development, Qazigund recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7°C on Thursday, marking the highest June temperature in the region since 1988.

According to the Meteorological Department, this temperature now ranks as the third-highest June temperature ever recorded in Qazigund. The second-highest June temperature remains 35.3°C, recorded on 27 June 1988, while the all-time highest stands at 35.7°C, observed a day earlier on 26 June 1988.

The unusually high temperature has raised concerns among residents and officials alike, as heatwave-like conditions continue to grip parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The MeT office has advised people to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak afternoon hours.
