Residents of Astan Mohalla Laisoo Kulgam Appeal for Urgent Drainage Solution Amid Rainwater Logging

Kulgam, July 11:The residents of Astan Mohalla in Laisoo area of Kulgam have appealed to the district administration to take immediate steps to address the persistent issue of rainwater logging that has severely affected the locality.

Locals reported that with every spell of rain, water accumulates not only in the residential areas but also on the main road that connects Astan Mohalla to the district headquarters. The situation has worsened to the extent that rainwater enters several houses, creating hardships for families, particularly for school-going children who struggle to navigate through the waterlogged roads.

"Children find it difficult to reach their schools during rainy days, and the condition of the main road becomes dangerous and unhygienic," said a concerned resident.

The locals stressed the urgent need for a proper drainage system in the area to prevent further inconvenience and damage to property.

When contacted, SDM Noorabad Bashir Ullah Hassan said, “We have already deputed a team to assess the situation, and the issue will be resolved within a few days.”

The residents expressed hope that the administration’s response will translate into quick action on the ground and bring long-term relief to the affected area.
