KULGAM, JULY 12: In a major boost to the water infrastructure in Noorabad constituency, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Ms. Sakeena Itoo today inaugurated the Common Raw Water Main (CRWM) project catering to three significant water supply schemes at Dadran, Noorabad in D H Pora area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district.

The schemes — Dranbal Waripora, H N Guri, and C S Rather — have been completed at a cumulative cost of over ₹10 crore, with investments of ₹7.42 crore, ₹1.71 crore and ₹1.22 crore respectively. The CRWM will draw raw water from the pristine alpine lakes of Pir Panchal — Bramha Sar and Chir Sar — and transport it to a treatment plant for distribution, marking a critical upgrade in the region’s water supply network.

Addressing a large gathering at the inaugural function, Sakeena Itoo reiterated the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led government to development-driven governance. “Our government is dedicated to delivering quality infrastructure and public services to improve the lives of our people,” she said.

The Minister also expressed concern over the growing drug menace in the region, terming it a serious challenge that requires collective action from society and authorities alike.

Highlighting the strides made across key sectors such as education, public welfare, and infrastructure, she emphasized that projects like CRWM reflect the government’s focus on sustainable development and public welfare.

The new water infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance drinking water availability for several villages in Noorabad, easing long-standing hardships faced by residents.

During her visit, various local delegations and residents met with the Minister and raised pressing civic issues. Sakeena Itoo gave a patient hearing and assured timely redressal of all genuine concerns.

The event marked yet another milestone in the ongoing developmental outreach across Kulgam district under the present administration.
