SRINAGAR, AUGUST 01: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, to comprehensively review the developmental progress of the Khansahib Constituency in Budgam district.
The meeting was attended by MLA Khansahib Saif-u-din Bhat; Secretary School Education Ram Niwas Sharma; Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah; Director School Education Kashmir; Director Health Services Kashmir; Director Coordination New GMCs; Director Finance and Planning of the Health and Medical Education Department; CEO Budgam; CMO Budgam, and other senior officers of the concerned departments.
During the meeting, Minister Itoo took a detailed review of ongoing and proposed projects in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and civic infrastructure. She stressed the need for accelerating the development pace and ensuring timely completion of all works.
In the health sector, the Minister emphasized strengthening infrastructure at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and sub-district hospitals. She directed the department to expedite proposals for upgrading diagnostic facilities, establishing dialysis centres, and ensuring availability of essential medical services in remote areas of the constituency.
Reviewing the education sector, the Minister instructed officials to renovate dilapidated school and college buildings, with a special focus on ensuring basic student amenities such as drinking water, sanitation, and electricity. She also called for the establishment of ICT-enabled classrooms and upgrading science laboratories to align with modern academic standards.
Reiterating the Government’s commitment to grassroots-level development, Sakeena Itoo underlined that bridging gaps in health, education, and civic infrastructure remains a key priority under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The Minister also directed officials to ensure robust inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of welfare and development schemes. She proposed the institution of monthly grievance redressal forums at the constituency level to enhance public outreach and accountability.
She urged all departments to adopt a mission-mode approach to uplift the socio-economic profile of Khansahib constituency and ensure tangible outcomes on the ground.
