Kulgam, July 18: In a continued effort to combat drug abuse and raise awareness among the youth, Kulgam Police on Thursday organized an awareness programme under the banner of “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Devsar. The event was held under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024–25, on the directions of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and local citizens. Among the dignitaries present were DySP DAR Kulgam Shri Mohd Ayub Rather, SHO PS Devsar, and senior officers of Kulgam Police.
Addressing the gathering, police officials emphasized the urgent need to safeguard the younger generation from the growing menace of drug addiction. They highlighted the destructive effects of drugs on individuals, families, and the society at large, urging students to stay vigilant and spread awareness for a drug-free India.
A debate competition was also organized as part of the event, where students passionately expressed their views and offered meaningful solutions to tackle the problem of substance abuse. The discussion shed light on the emotional, psychological, and social challenges posed by drugs, and the collective responsibility of the community to curb the issue.
At the conclusion of the event, the top three winners of the debate competition were felicitated with mementos and cash prizes to recognize and encourage their efforts.
The participants expressed gratitude to Kulgam Police for launching such initiatives, which not only raise awareness but also foster a spirit of trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the youth.
This programme reaffirms Kulgam Police’s commitment to creating a drug-free, safe, and healthy society.
