KULGAM, JULY 26:In a continued effort to combat drug abuse and raise awareness among youth, Kulgam Police organized an impactful awareness programme under the banner of “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Yaripora. The event was conducted as part of the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-2025.

The programme witnessed the participation of the school’s Principal, faculty members, police officers including SHO PS Yaripora, students, and other prominent citizens of the area.

Addressing the gathering, police officers underscored the urgent need to protect the younger generation from the growing menace of drug addiction. They highlighted the severe consequences of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society at large, urging students to remain vigilant, drug-free, and proactive in spreading awareness within their communities.

A debate competition was also held during the event, where students passionately shared their views, insights, and proposed solutions to the alarming issue of drug abuse. The interactive session allowed participants to reflect on the multifaceted challenges of addiction and emphasized the role of collective responsibility in addressing it.

The initiative reflects the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s strong commitment towards building a drug-free society and fostering a culture of trust, health, and cooperation among the youth. The participants expressed gratitude to the police for organizing such meaningful programmes that bridge gaps and promote dialogue.

To encourage and recognize student participation, the top three performers of the debate competition were felicitated with mementos and cash prizes, aimed at boosting their morale and continued engagement in social causes.
