Kulgam, August 4: In view of the upcoming anniversaries of August 5 and Independence Day on August 15, security has been significantly intensified across South Kashmir's Kulgam district to ensure peace and prevent any untoward incidents.

On the directions of SSP Kulgam under the supervision of Dysp Nasir Ahmad and SHO Kulgam Subazar Ahmad elaborate security arrangements have been put in place, with intensified checking of vehicles, frisking of pedestrians, and heightened patrolling in sensitive areas.

Special focus is being given to the security of minority communities, including Kashmiri Pandits and non-local workers. Additional deployment of security forces has been made around minority residential pockets and areas with a significant population of outsiders.

Mobile bunkers, nakas, and joint patrolling by police and CRPF units have been strengthened across highways, towns, and rural zones of the district.

A senior police officer said, “All necessary arrangements have been made to maintain peace and security during the sensitive period. The safety of every citizen, including minorities, is our top priority.”

Security forces have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with checking procedures.
