JAMMU, May 10: A senior government officer was killed and two of his staff members were critically injured in heavy Pakistani shelling in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir early Saturday, officials confirmed.
According to local authorities, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Rajouri, Raj Kumar Thapa, sustained fatal injuries when an artillery shell struck his official residence in Rajouri town. His two staff members were also seriously wounded in the attack.
All three were immediately rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital. However, Thapa succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials said. The condition of the two injured staff members remains critical.
