Jammu, May 20:
As part of an ongoing outreach initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, SP South, _Shri Ajay Sharma-JKPS_, today delivered a thought-provoking and motivational lecture at MAM College, Jammu, focusing on three critical areas — the growing challenge of drug abuse among youth, the importance of character building, and the new criminal laws introduced by the Government of India.
Addressing a packed auditorium of students and faculty members, SP South began by raising serious concerns over the menace of drug abuse, particularly among the younger generation. He highlighted the psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance use and urged students to remain vigilant, informed, and proactive in resisting peer pressure and promoting a drug-free campus and society.
In the same address, SP South delivered an inspiring message on character building, emphasizing that strong moral values, discipline, integrity, and a sense of responsibility form the foundation of a successful and meaningful life. He encouraged students to focus on holistic personal development — not just academic excellence, but also emotional resilience, ethical conduct, and social commitment.
SP South also provided a comprehensive overview of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). He explained the key changes, their relevance to public safety, and the progressive shift toward victim-centric justice.
Throughout the session, SP South stressed the importance of awareness, legal literacy, and youth empowerment. He encouraged students to serve as change agents in their communities by spreading awareness, upholding the rule of law, and contributing to a safer, healthier society.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, during which students posed insightful questions and expressed their appreciation for the informative and motivating session.
This program is part of a larger series of awareness and engagement initiatives being carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, aimed at educating the public — especially students — on legal reforms, drug prevention, and the importance of moral and civic responsibility.
