Teacher, Peon Arrested for Alleged Sexual Exploitation of Minor Student in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 17, 2025 — A government school teacher and a peon have been arrested in Srinagar district of central Kashmir on charges of sexually exploiting a minor student, officials confirmed on Saturday.

Sources said the incident surfaced after a formal complaint was lodged at the Chatterhama Police Post, prompting immediate action from authorities.

“Acting swiftly, the police arrested both accused—one employed as a teacher and the other as a peon at a government school in the area,” an official said.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 23/2025, invoking relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and child protection laws.

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that strict action will be taken based on the findings. “Justice will be ensured, and no leniency will be shown,” an official added.
