Handwara, June 10: In the quiet valleys of Rajwar Handwara, a silent crisis is unfolding.

At the Government Higher Secondary Schools in Zachaldara and Behnipora, dreams are slowly fading as students sit in classrooms without teachers their futures uncertain, their hopes slipping away.

With a severe shortage of lecturers, especially in key subjects, students are struggling to prepare for their academic journey.

Many have been coming to school every day, only to return home disheartened, their questions unanswered and lessons left incomplete.

Social activist Javid Mir, visibly distressed, told the media,

“It’s heartbreaking to see the children wait for teachers who never arrive.

A few days ago, some teachers were transferred, and authorities had promised quick replacements.

But till now, nothing has changed.”

Parents too are losing faith.

Many fear that their children’s year will be wasted, and in these remote areas, opportunities for private coaching are scarce or unaffordable.

“This is not just about education,” Javid Mir added.

“It’s about the dignity and rights of our children.

It’s about their dreams of becoming doctors, engineers, and teachers dreams that are now hanging in the balance.”

He has appealed to the Education Department and the district administration to act swiftly before this silent suffering turns into a lost generation.
