Three feared militant were killed on Thursday in an encounter with the security forces at Nadar locality of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian Army confirmed the identities of killed militants are not yet established.
Chinar Corps announced on its official 'X' account, "Three Hudco militants have been killed in an ongoing operation in Nadar, Awantipora. The militants' identities are being confirmed."
In a specific intelligence input-based operation, the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a joint operation on Thursday morning. When the soldiers saw suspicious movement, they fired a challenge, to which the militants retaliated with gunfire. During the retaliatory firing, three militants were gunned down.
Chinar Corps stated, "On 15 May 2025, on the basis of certain inputs of intelligence, a search and cordon operation was launched in Nadar, Tral, Awantipora. When the patrolling troops observed suspicious movement and challenged the militants, they fired in their direction and an intense encounter started."Prior to this, anti-terror operations have been stepped up in Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack. In the attack, 26 individuals were killed.
On 13 May, during another operation in Kelar forest of Shopian district, the Army, Police and CRPF together eliminated three militants. One of them was a local LeT/TRF commander.
During that operation, the security forces confiscated a number of AK series rifles, huge stocks of ammunition, grenades and other war materials.
India's 'Operation Sindoor' has recently attained unprecedented success. The operation led to the killing of approximately 100 terrorists by precision air raids on several terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The targets were the Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba training camp in Muridke.
The TRF, now a terrorist group proclaimed by India, is basically an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba and is deeply engaged in terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. It has taken responsibility for the disastrous Pahalgam attack.
The success of the ongoing operation is an indicator of India's firm approach to counter-terrorism.
