Handwara, May 6: Members of the tribal Gujjar-Bakarwal community, along with civil society activists, held a peaceful protest in Handwara on Monday to express solidarity with the bereaved family of a nomadic woman who tragically lost her life after allegedly being sexually assaulted in the Nishat area of Srinagar.

The protest was led by prominent community leader Choudhary Saleem Gujjar, Chief Spokesperson of the BJP ST Morcha. He was accompanied by renowned socio-political activist Choudhary Shaheen Bajad, Choudhary Ikhlaq Kalas, and other well-known activists who joined in demanding justice.

Protesters carried placards and raised slogans condemning the heinous act and called for immediate and strict action against the perpetrators. They emphasized the need for swift justice to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.

The protest remained peaceful and concluded with a collective appeal to the authorities to deliver justice without delay
