Kund (Kulgam), August 6: In a tragic incident, two members of a nomadic family lost their lives and another was injured after a tree fell on their makeshift tent due to strong gusty winds in the upper reaches of Kund area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday evening.

According to officials, the incident occurred when powerful winds caused an alpine tree and a boulder to collapse onto the tent where the family was staying.

“In the incident, two members of the nomadic family died on the spot,” an official confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Mohd Shafi Boker and his daughter-in-law Reshma Begum, residents of Reasi district. They had set up temporary shelter in the Kund forests as part of their seasonal migration.

Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident. Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, along with other senior officials, visited the site to assess the situation and provide necessary support.
