Udhampur Police Foils Child Marriage, FIR Being Registered

Udhampur Police in coordination with the District Task Force successfully prevented an illegal child marriage involving a 14-year-old girl from Pattangarh Latti. The rescue was carried out on 6th May 2025 following a tip-off to the Child Helpline.

Despite prior Udhampur Police advisories the marriage was conducted on May 5, 2025. Acting on the recommendation of the Child Welfare Committee, the girl has been declared a child in need of care and protection and placed in a Child Care Institution.

In this regard FIR is being registered under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, against all responsible parties at Police Station Latti.
