Kulgam, May 29 – In a spirited observance of World Environment Week, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Zone Yaripora, under the dynamic leadership of Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori (DYSSO Kulgam), successfully organized a Cyclothon at Bugam. The event, aligned with this year’s global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally,” aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote healthy living through cycling.
More than 17 participants from various schools across Zone Yaripora took part in the cycling event, demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to environmental awareness. The event served not only as a platform for promoting fitness but also highlighted the urgent need to reduce plastic use and adopt sustainable practices in daily life.
Held at the zone headquarters in Kulgam, the Cyclothon marked a significant part of the district's World Environment Week celebrations. The participants, all male students, pedaled their way through the route, symbolizing a collective stand against plastic pollution and advocating for greener alternatives.
Fayaz Ahmad, the event convener, was widely praised for his exceptional coordination and leadership, ensuring the event ran smoothly and effectively. The dedication and teamwork displayed by all DYSS officials further contributed to the event’s grand success.
