Kulgam, June 14: As part of the ongoing Inter-Zonal District Level Sports activities, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO) Kulgam on Friday organized a girls' Baseball tournament for Under-14 and Under-17 categories at Sports Stadium Kulgam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various government and private schools across the district.

The tournament was inaugurated by officials of the Youth Services and Sports (YSS) department, with a large gathering of players dressed in proper sports kits, showcasing high spirits and determination to excel in their respective disciplines.

The competition was conducted strictly in accordance with the standard rules and regulations of the game. A transparent and merit-based selection process was followed to shortlist talented players for the upcoming Inter-District Division Level competitions.

In a display of remarkable teamwork and athletic prowess, Zone HCGam lifted the trophy in the U/14 Girls Baseball category, while Zone Devsar clinched the title in the U/17 Girls category.

Adding to the day’s significance, the Zonal Physical Education Office HCGam also organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Rally under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The rally commenced from Al Noor Arreh and concluded at IHI Areh, with 56 students – both boys and girls – participating in the awareness drive. Simultaneously, Zone Kulgam also held a similar anti-drug rally at BHS Katrsoo, reinforcing the collective commitment towards a drug-free society.

These combined efforts not only promoted sportsmanship but also highlighted the importance of a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among the youth of the region.

DYSSO Kulgam confirmed that such sports and awareness activities will continue in the coming days to further empower young talent and foster social responsibility among students.
