Kulgam, June 13:

In a strong move to promote a drug-free society and instill healthy lifestyle choices among the youth, the District Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Office Kulgam, through its Physical Education Zone Damhal Hanji Pora, organized a pledge ceremony and awareness rally under the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan campaign.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff, who gathered to take a collective stand against drug abuse. The participants took an anti-drug pledge, vowing to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a healthy and responsible society. The rally further amplified the message, with participants holding placards and raising slogans advocating a drug-free environment.

Officials from YSS, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping the future and urged them to make informed and positive choices. They highlighted how sports and physical activity can serve as powerful tools in keeping young minds engaged and away from harmful substances.

As part of the same initiative, Zone Devsar also conducted inter-school zonal level competitions in basketball for under-14 and under-17 girls. More than 40 participants from various educational institutions of the zone took part in the spirited sports event. Prior to the competition, students and staff also participated in an anti-drug pledge under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan banner.

The events were organized under the supervision of the District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kulgam, who lauded the efforts of both zones in effectively combining sports with social awareness, and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to nurturing a healthier, drug-free youth population in the district.
