In a continued push against illegal mining, Jammu Police, South Zone, has taken action under Operation Ploughing, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding natural resources and public safety.
Acting on credible inputs, a team from Police Post Sainik Colony intercepted and seized a red Mahindra tractor trolley loaded with mining material being transported without valid authorization.
• Chassis Number: MBNGAAL43PRD00799
• Engine Number: RPD2GCA3293
The vehicle was taken into custody on the spot, and the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Jammu, was informed to initiate further proceedings under mining laws.
Alongside anti-mining drives, South Zone Police have intensified routine law enforcement measures with notable action taken as under:
• 06 individuals involved in drug peddling booked under preventive measures
• 07 preventive actions initiated to curb potential threats to peace
• 10 challans issued for Motor Vehicle Act violations
These actions reflect the Jammu Police’s multidimensional approach to enforcement—tackling not just illegal mining, but also substance abuse and traffic violations.
Jammu Police reiterates its call for public cooperation in the ongoing drive. Citizens are urged to report illegal mining, suspicious activities, or drug-related movements to their nearest police units. Collective vigilance is vital to preserving the environment and ensuring a safe, lawful society.
