World Earth Day Also Celebrated with Tree Plantation Drive

Kulgam, April 22, 2025: In a commendable effort to promote a drug-free and environmentally responsible society, the Municipal Council Kulgam today organized a dual-purpose awareness event at Government Middle School Amnoo. The initiative was part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and also marked the global observance of World Earth Day.
The program was held under the leadership of Zahid Sajad, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Kulgam. Syed Idress, Incharge Municipal Council, attended as the Chief Guest, while Nodal Officer Mubarak Ahmad oversaw the event.
In his keynote address, Syed Idress underscored the crucial role of youth in combating substance abuse. He encouraged students to act as community influencers, spreading awareness about the dangers of drug use and championing a healthier lifestyle.
To mark World Earth Day, students and faculty took part in a spirited tree plantation drive within the school campus, planting a variety of saplings as a commitment to environmental preservation.
Staff from Government High School Amnoo also joined the event, participating in open discussions and showing strong solidarity with both causes.
The school community extended heartfelt thanks to the Municipal Council Kulgam for this impactful initiative and pledged continued support toward building a Nasha Mukt and eco-conscious society.
The Municipal Council announced plans to continue similar awareness and environmental campaigns across the district in the coming months.
