How to keep your car cool in the summer

Not only does our body get weak during the summer, but our car, one of our daily travel companions, also suffers equally. Long sun, hot air, long periods of car start, or parking in the heat all day can cause various problems from the car's engine to the AC system. So, if you take care of some important aspects before the summer season starts, your car will be in good shape, as well as you and your travel experience will be comfortable.

First of all, overheating of the car engine during the summer is a very common problem. The main reason for this is that the engine itself heats up a lot along with the outside temperature. As a result, if the car's coolant or cooling system is not working properly, the engine may overheat. Therefore, it is very important to check the coolant level regularly. Check the coolant at least every two weeks. If it decreases, then adjust the level using the coolant specified in the car's manual. Never use cheap quality coolant, because the chemical ingredients in them can damage the engine components. Also, if your car is more than three years old, it is a good idea to get your radiator serviced once.

The job of the radiator is to help control the engine's heat and keep it cool through air. But in our country, dust and dirt accumulation is very common, due to which the air flow of the radiator fan can be stopped. This makes the engine heat up quickly and reduces the performance of the car. Therefore, if dust accumulates on the radiator fan blades and surrounding areas, it should be cleaned with a soft brush or low-pressure water. This plays a big role in keeping the engine normal and cool on hot days.

The temperature inside the car becomes unbearable in the summer, especially if it is parked in direct sunlight. Within a few minutes, the leather of the car seats heats up, the steering wheel cannot be held, and the temperature of the dashboard reaches very high levels. So, whenever possible, try to park the car in the shade. If you park the car under a tree, in a garage, or under a sunshade, the interior of the car will be much cooler. If shade is not available, then definitely use a good quality body cover for the car. It protects the car's paint and furniture from the sun's ultraviolet rays and prevents overheating.

Another small but effective tip is to keep the window glass slightly open while parking the car. This allows air to circulate inside, which helps to control the temperature inside the car to some extent. However, for safety reasons, the window should not be left completely open, just a slight gap is enough.

The most important helper of the car during the summer is its air conditioner (AC). It becomes almost impossible to drive without AC on long journeys or in city traffic jams. But it is necessary to ensure its maintenance before using the AC. Many times, dust accumulates in the filter, which obstructs the airflow and the AC cannot provide the desired cooling. Also, if the compressor or refrigerant level decreases, the AC does not work properly. Therefore, it is very wise to get the car's AC serviced before the heat starts.

Also, special attention needs to be paid to car tires in summer. Hot roads put extra pressure on tires. If the pressure is too high or the air is low, the tires can burst. Therefore, tire pressure should be checked at least once a week.

Sometimes, the battery can also cause problems in the heat. When the temperature rises, the battery fluid evaporates quickly, which can reduce the battery's performance. Therefore, check the battery level regularly and get the battery serviced if necessary.

During the summer, using additional electronic gadgets in the car such as mobile chargers, high-power music systems, etc. puts pressure on the car. Try to use only the necessary gadgets during this time.

Finally, summer is a challenging time for cars. However, this problem can be easily avoided if you follow some simple rules. Regular maintenance, care for the cooling system, keeping the AC clean, parking in the shade, and maintaining the exterior and interior cleanliness of the car will keep your car fit and running not only in the summer, but all year round.
