1.12 CRORE ILLEGAL CASH SEIZED FROM TAMIL NADU GOVT OFFICE DURING RIADS

During surprise operations carried out by the Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Tamil Nadu on Friday, they seized unexplained cash totalling Rs. 1.12 crore, including Rs. 75 lakhs from the guest home of the Tiruvarur Highways Department.


According to a comprehensive breakdown provided by DVAC, a divisional engineer's office in Tiruvarur had Rs 75 lakh stolen from it. In addition, it said that Rs 8.87 lakh was taken from the Assistant Director of Highways Namakkal's office. 4.26 lakh rupees were found after searches were conducted in the agriculture office's assistant director's office in Villupuram.


In a subsequent raid on the office of the rural development department in Virudhanagar AD, the authorities confiscated Rs 6.67 lakh in cash. Raids were carried out, among other places, at the district industries centre in Tirunelveli, the office of the assistant director for highways, the AD (Panchayat), the rural development department in Virudhunagar, and others.
