Cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh buries family of 5 under debris
The deceased have been identified as Kuldeep Kamar (35), his wife Sunita (30), their two sons, Aman (10) and Ashish (8), and Kuldeep's mother Dhanwanti (65).The cloudburst occurred around 6 am in Malagi Dadiyat village of Aauli tehsil. The debris from the landslide buried the Kamar family's house completely.
Rescue teams from the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the Indian Army, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were rushed to the spot and are currently carrying out rescue operations.The SDMA has also issued an alert for heavy rains in Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, and Chamba districts for the next two days.
The death toll from monsoon-related disasters in Himachal Pradesh has risen to 223 since the start of the monsoon season on June 24.The state government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kith and kin of the deceased.
