Nashik/Mumbai: According to Abhilash Botekar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis said on Thursday that a Special Investigation Team would be established to look into the discovery of Rs 1.8 crore in a locked room of a government guest home in Dhule.

Authorities said that a tip led to the seizure of the money. According to Additional SP Kishor Kale, "the money count continued until early Thursday. The room is now sealed. According to the police, no FIR has been filed as of yet.

Later, Kishore Patil, a section official in the state legislature, was suspended, according to state legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde.

Anil Gote, a former MLA and Sena UBT member, claimed the funds were intended for Arjun Khotkar, a Shiv Sena MLA led by Eknath Shinde and the head of the legislature's Estimates Committee, which examines how the government spends public funds.

Gote stated that "the room was booked under the name of Kishor Patil, who is also Khotkar's assistant and had been staying at the guest house for the last couple of days" . However, Khotkar denied the accusations.

"Gote has a tendency to make such unfounded accusations. When I asked Patil, he said that he had reserved a different room, not the one in question.
